The James A. Michener Museum was built in 1988 within the old prison walls. We renovated existing space in the museum to create the education wing. The program for the education wing included a Children’s Gallery and two new classrooms, with the requirement that the classrooms could easily be opened into one large classroom when needed. The renovations included new partitions, flooring, lighting, and built-in cabinets. This project also included a major renovation of the commercial kitchen, including all new equipment.
