Ellen Happ

Ellen Happ

Ellen has been a practicing architect in southeastern Pennsylvania since 1980. She graduated, with distinction, from Penn State in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, and received her Master of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980. At Penn Ellen was awarded the Dales Fellowship and in 1983 she was the first-prize winner of the Stewardson Memorial Scholarship, a statewide architectural competition.

Ellen was a project architect in the office of Lynn Taylor Associates in Doylestown from 1987 to 1995. Prior to that, she worked on many custom residential and institutional projects in Philadelphia including university and museum additions and renovations, and projects involving the reuse of historic properties. She started the firm of Ellen Happ Architect in 1995 and has designed residences, additions and renovations of all sizes.

Ellen served on the Historic and Architectural Review Board of Doylestown Borough, and was elected Chairman of that board from 1998 to 2002. She was elected to the board of the not-for-profit County Theater in Doylestown in 2007 and again in 2017, and served as Secretary of the Board from 2011 through 2014.

Jackie Connard has been working with the firm of Ellen Happ Architect since October, 2013. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from Brown University in 2010, and went on to pursue her Master of Architecture degree at the Boston Architectural College.

Jackie is involved in all phases of projects, from meeting with clients, engineers and contractors to schematic design and drafting of construction documents. She has played a pivotal role in integrating the use of AutoCAD into the studio.

A Bucks County native, Jackie’s passion for local and historic architecture was fostered by hands-on work on her family’s home and barns. She also studied architecture in Spain and Malta, during a summer spent traveling abroad.
