Hidden Gem

This handsome stone house enjoys a very private setting in the midst of central Bucks County. My client wanted a breakfast room and a larger family room to entertain friends and family. The program also included a new first floor master bedroom suite and additional guest rooms on the second floor. The challenge was to add these spaces without blocking views and natural light from the existing first floor rooms. Our solution was to design the breakfast room and the extension of the family room as an “enclosed porch”. The entire space has floor to ceiling double hung windows and French doors. The exposed rafters and wood board ceiling reinforce the porch-like quality of the space.

The kitchen was completely renovated and new wood cabinets and countertops were handcrafted by Ambrose Randa Hardwoods. A new terrace is nestled on the inside corner of the two wings of the house. It is accessed from both the breakfast room and from a small private porch off the master bedroom.
